Laugh Cd/dvd rom problem

Hello friends. I am a new member but I have been with this forum for quite a while. I am impressed by the helpful information provided by this forum. SO thank you for the good work.
I ahve a problem with my CD/DVD drive. The whole drive cannot play any cd or dvd, including program disks. I don't remember when this started to happen but I have done a number of installation from disks and from the Internet. I have tried to uninstall the recently installed programs but with no success on my drive. I suspect that a virus has crashed my drive. The drive is still recognized by the system but no playing. Can someone have experience on this issue help me?

with hope

Re: Cd/dvd rom problem

I have deleted the filters and it causes me a boot problem. The first time I deleted the filters my cd/dvd rom appeared to work normally. But when I tried to make a back up disk my laptop crashed and it hardly reboot. I have run the boot repair and the system restore and able to boot and the cd/dvd rom returns to its problem. What else I need to do? PLEASE!

Re: Cd/dvd rom problem

Laptop drives are usually cheap and prone to early failure.
Is it still under warranty?

Re: Cd/dvd rom problem

Our computer had a virus on it so we cleaned out the viruses by hand, my husband got rather far but when I installed the spyware the computer crushed. We took the hard drive out of the computer and attached it to the laptop we have to do a spysweep on it and it was able to connect but when I put it back into the cpu it said it could not find the operating system file so I took it out again and tried to use it on the laptop as an external and it said I had to reformate the hard drive. I know I couldn't do this because we would lose everything on the hard drive and we have picture and video files we need so I put the computer back in the CPU but then it would not read the hard drive, I changed the boot sequence and changed the wire and it is not reading the hard drive it won't read the CD/DVD drive so I can install the config file form the CD Dell sent to us. How do I repair the CD/DVD drive so it can run the System CD?
