I can't play DVD's

I'm trying to play a DVD but it gives me the error message "Please insert a drive into disk G". Windows Media Player doesn't detect the disk at all, and Nero Showtime Essentials says "disk is not ready". I use Windows XP service pack 2.

I'M HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM. HELP!!! I HAVE TWO CD ROM DRIVES. ONE A RW AND THE OTHER A READ ONLY. BOTH DRIVES TELL ME TO "INSERT A DISK INTO THE DRIVE(s). COULD THIS BE A DRIVER PROBLEM. BOTH DRIVES QUIT WORKING AT THE SAME TIME (SONY CDU5211 & ATAPI CW 4801)?

luky1971 - What is the make and model of the drive? Does it recognize any media?
