OS: xp service pack 3


USB not found

It is happening quiet often that my laptop does not pick up my USB when I insert it into laptop. Somt=etimes when I restart my computer with the usb inserted this problem is resolved. I would be grateful for any ideas on resolving this.

I have been having the same problem on my desktop machine running Windows XP Pro.

You might try restarting the laptop with the flash drive inserted and then right clicking on My Computer, select 'Manage'->'Disk Management'. Right click on the flash drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Path..." and give the drive a different letter like 'Q' or 'W' or some letter not being used. Reboot and test to see if that fixes the problem. Apparently, XP gets confused sometimes when mounting these flash drives on the fly.

Some have reported success with this fix although it didn't help my problem.
