BIOS doesn't detect DVD-RW drive,but Floppy drive!
hi!I have a problem!I tried to make up a bootable CD,but didn't managed, still after I burned one cd ,something happended to the BIOS,it couldn't detect my DVD-RW drive anymore(could it be, because I used some kind of boot file)..instead where should be written CD/DVD Rom drive was written floppy drive.I tried several ways of solving the problem, but neither of them were successful. My CD/DVD ROM is detected neither in Win XP (explorer-my computer;Task Manager),nor in BIOS were I said is written 1'st floppy drive!I even disconnected it from computer and reconnected it ,but still no result.
thanks! I'm waiting for some help! |

Re: BIOS doesn't detect DVD-RW drive, but Floppy drive!
Hello,
Is the drive IDE or SATA? Reset BIOS to defaults. If still not detected in BIOS try a different cable.

I have a SATA drive, still I don't know what is going to change if I use different cables,I said earlier that I had disconnected and reconnected the driver and it didn't change anything?

Re: BIOS doesn't detect DVD-RW drive, but Floppy drive!
On the Main page of the BIOS is the dvd drive listed there.
Did you reset the BIOS to defaults? If the drive is still not detected in BIOS then there is a problem with the drive.

no,I tried to set BIOS to default settings, but still it didn't work.I really don't think it's a problem with the drive ,it worked very good yesterday until the problem appeared.

Re: BIOS doesn't detect DVD-RW drive, but Floppy drive!
Try a different drive.
Try the drive on another system.
