Plextor px-716a

So i am a little confused. My drive has been working for about a year now and it would burn dvds perfectly fine. Now just yesterday it randomly stopped working. I mean it works.. It will read a dvd, but it will not burn it anymore and if i try to copy any dvd using dvdfab it ends up going at 2.75 kb and then at the end the drive would completely dissapear. I normally use nero to burn and encode, it use to allow me when i clicked make dvd it would come up with the video encoding screen, now when i try it, it asks do i want to make a cd or video cd, like the drive is not a dvd burner at all. I was wondering if maybe a virus could mess something up, but i don't feel like i have one. or did it maybe just die out? but wouldnt the whole drive not work or acknowledge

Re: Plextor px-716a

Hello,

Uninstall the drive from Device Manager and restart Windows.

After the reboot Windows will reinstall the device.

Try manually removing the filters. (Just follow the instructions for XP)

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...060&x=12&y=13#

Clean the lens of the drive.

Reinstall burning software.

Try a different burner as the drive may have failed.
