DVD / Laptop Incompatibility?
I have recently bought an external DVD Drive (connect via USB) to connect to my laptop running Vista. The thing was OK initially, but now the boot freezes very early on in the cycle (within the first few seconds when the Setup option is showing). If I unpluf the DVD (either USB or power) the boot resumes and completes. I can reconnect the DVD Drive, and all is well - it is recognised.
Is there some sort of incompatibility between them? It seems to be looking for bootable media in the DVD Drive. I had a look in the Setup, and that showed, in the boot order, the DVD Drive first, followed by the internal drives. I guess that this is right to allow an external boot if required. I 'demoted' the DVD player, and the problem persisted. Any ideas about what is wrong? |
