CD Device not recognised?[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

What did you do right before it stopped working? It's very difficult to solve most problems without this information.

Never has worked on this actual pc - used to have an identical pc and that worked fine. This one has been formatted - just wondered if I was missing something - not switched anything on?

Re: CD Device not recognised?

Try putting a normal disk into the drive with music or programs on it and see if you can get it to work. If it read the disk, I don't know what to do. If it doesn't, make sure all the cables are inserted correctly and in securely. However, that would involve opening your PC up and physically checking the wires, thus voiding your warranty.

Re: CD Device not recognised?

If you have 2 cd drives, make sure top one is master and bottom one slave. (jumpers on back of drives)

Make sure it selected as master, if so, try another burner.
