Card Reader not working on HPDV1000 & Win7RC
First, I know getting anything to run on an old machine while running windows 7 RC is a long shot.
I've got an HP DV1000 and I've installed Windows 7 RC. Everything is working great except the built in card reader. Windows Update couldn't find drivers and it was clearly showing up in Device Manager as lacking proper drivers. I tried downloading the XP drivers from HP and installing them and everything looked to go smoothly. No errors, no problems, got confirmation install was successful and Win7's pop-up in the taskbar came up saying drivers were installed and device was ready to use. Also the device no longer appeared in Device Manager as needing drivers. But, when I insert an SD card the read light blinks twice and then nothing. No new drives appear under my computer, no plug & pray pop-up asking me if I want to import pictures or open folder, nothing. I've done google searches to see if anyone else has run into this but not surprisingly I didn't find anything. Again, heh, I realize I'm trying a brand-spanking new OS on a dirt-old machine. So if anyone has any suggestions it would be very much appreciated :) |
