[SOLVED] Two DVD Drives not registering on My Computer (Code 39)

Hi Folks.

Just a bit stumped here. I recently tried to start up Fallout 3 on my comp using the disc, only to find out that the two DVD drives I have on my computer weren't showing up as icons on the My Computer page.

I check the device manager, and see that they both are still there, but they have little yellow exclamation marks on them, and when I double click either one, the information for each shows the following:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

According to the device manager, the two DVD drives (one's a DVD-RW) are:
ASUS CB-5261A
ATAPI DVD A DH20A3H

Let's see... I'm running Windows XP SP 3. I'm not sure how to get the other information, so if you need info on the motherboard type, please let me know how I can find out so I can help you help me.

Anyway, thanks again for your patience.

Re: Two DVD Drives not registering on My Computer (Code 39)

Hi. There's no lowerfilters entry there to delete, but there's an upperfilters entry.

Should I just reinstall iTunes or something. I remember removing it, you see.

EDIT: Restarted the computer after removing Upperfilters and I got my DVD Drives back. Even managed to start Fallout 3 again. I'll let you know if anything else goes awry. Thanks! :D
