[SOLVED] Cannot Boot from CD

hi, i recently bought a new computer - core 2 duo 3GHz, 4gb ddr2 ram, etc

After i had installed most of my programs, i got to my LG DVD Writer Solution CD

It included bundles of Power DVD and Power Producer, etc

I decided to install it, however after the installation i was prompted to install an LG Drive Updater, at the time i didn't realise that it wasn't necessary and i regrettably upgraded the drivers of my LG DVD RW Drive for no reason.

Now heres where the problem began...

Everything updated fine, however i noticed when my computer boots up it no longer shows my LG drive in the boot menu next to the line SATA 2, i still see my HDD next to the line SATA 1, but next to SATA 2 it is just blank

now i didn't care too much until i tried to boot from my Windows Vista CD

Where i saw the drive no longer allows me to boot from CD, even if i change the BIOS setting to Boot CD ROM first, nothing happens - it just simply continues on to boot from HDD

Even when i go into BIOS, the drive doesn't show up, however when the computer boots up the drive works fine... strange!?!?

i blame the LG ODD Auto Firmwre Updater that i accidently installed, does anyone have any solutions... pls let me know

Also, i tried my LG DVD RW Drive in my old P4 computer and it works fine, meaning it shows up in the BIOS menu, etc... Im so confused

And lastly the computer takes longer to boot up now... it was very quick before

if yous need any more info, just ask and ill let u know asap

thank you
Danny

Thumbs Up [SOLVED] Re: Updated DVD RW Drivers, Now Cannot Boot from DVD Drive any longer

ALL GOOD FELLAS, PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

i basically updated my LG Drive with the wrong firmware update, leaving my LG Drive useless!

Solution (Must be - LG GH20NS10 DVD-RW Drive)

Force the drive into safe mode:

Step1: Shutdown your PC
Step2: Press and hold the drive's eject button
Step3: While holding, turn on your PC and keep it held for 10seconds or until you see your drive's light turn on
Step4: Release the eject button
Step 5: Continue to boot PC into safe mode
Step 6: Re-install correct Fireware update, download here GH20NS10_EL00_Core

ENJOY! - Drive should be visible in BIOS as normal and Windows again!
