Hey everyone, havent been here in a while, i recently found out that my dvd drive isnt able to play dual layer DVD's, i have a SONY DVD RW DW-G120A, and it supposedly supports dual layer, i have a set of 11 instructional calculus DVD's which i have to watch as i am in college, my current drive will only play the first couple of sections then it will freeze afterwards, it makes a clicking noise (probably trying to read the second layer?). They all play fine on a stand alone dvd player so my problem is definitely my drive, ive tried updating the firmware but no luck. I even did a disc scan with nero and it just stopped halfway when reading the DVD.
So i was looking on some new drives to buy but there arent alot with IDE, most of them are SATA now, my mobo only has 2 SATA ports which are already used by 2 HDD's, so i have to get either an external usb drive, or IDE, i was looking at these drives what do you guys think?: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...59445&CatId=89 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...IN#detailspecs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827118022 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135190 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...04047&CatId=89 i really dont know which brands are more reliable, and why IDE is priced so low, i want to get one under $100, fast read speed and i really dont care if its loud or not. if anyone could recommend one that would be great!
