DVD RW does not work
I just purchased a used DVD/RW drive. After installing, the computer recognized it and seemed to configure everything ok. However, when I put a disk in, I come up with a few different error messages..."E:\ is not a valid win32 application" or "there is a problem with ck.exe and will have to shut down" or something to that effect. Device manager seems to say everything is ok. I uninstalled and reinstalled..no help. In "My Computer", it will post a proper disk label and icon for the drive, but I can't get anything in the drive to open or work...dvd or cd..same problems. When I put in a movie dvd, it will open windows media player and try to play the movie, but will only play 1 second at a time...(ie..play for a second...pause...play for a second...pause...etc) Any ideas? I'm not computer savvy enough to know if it is a software or hardware problem, but it seems to me Windows XP is not working with this new drive for some reason. Can you help me? I'm running windows xp on an emachine T5026. The old drive which this replaced was a TS-H552. New drive is a "HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GSA-H11N"
