No USB memory sticks work on computer. They work on others though
Hi,
my computer is running Windows XP Pro with SP2. I have just put a USB memory stick in to my computer and I am getting a message box with the message: "The disk in Drive E: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" When I choose yes to format, I get the message: "There is no disk in drive E. Insert a disk, and then try again". When I click OK I also get this message: "The disk in drive E: can not be formatted" Now, the only changes I can think of that have happened since I last used the USB was I upgraded my Flash Player software, but I have now uninstalled that and I still have the same problem. I have googled and tried the following things: Uninstall the USB drivers in device manage and storage volumes, then placed the US stick back into the computer, (both with and without a restart). I get the usual messages from the system tray saying the drive is working and recognised, but I still get the same problem. I have uninstalled all flash players and programs. Nothing. I have tried different USB ports, so it came up a Drive F:, still the same problem. I have formatted one of the sticks on another computer and tried it again, still the same problem. Both memory sticks work on several other laptops that I have used since last used them on the PC. Can any one help me? |
