Lite-On iHAS-120 plays DVDs but not CDs

Hey guys,
My computer recently froze when I put an audio CD into the drive, when I rebooted the computer I could no longer play any form of CD but DVDs were still playable. I reinstalled the firmware in safe mode, which did nothing. Then I turned off my computer unplug the drive from the MOBO and then replug it. When I booted the computer it worked, until the computer was turned off and restarted and then the problem came back.

I have tried finding the upper and lower filters in the registry but I was unable to. This seems to be the problem from everything else I have read I need to delete some of these corrupted filter values.

I have a:
BIOSTAR COMBO 6P2 AMD Sempron 3400+ AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Micro ATX Motherboard/CPU Combo
Windows XP S3
Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE

Here is the complete details on the Lite-On drive:
LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model iHAS120-04 - OEM

Should I just buy a new drive or is it an easy and permanent fix?

Thanks Guys! This place has been a great help before.
