HP 1170d light scribe drive isn't recognized

I installed an HP 1170d light scribe enabled DVD RW drive. I'm able to burn DVDs with it, but when I try to burn the label, the drive is not recognized as light scribe enabled by my computer or the software I'm using (Nero 9).

I've tried the following:
1 - Uninstalled in device manager and reinstalled the drive
2 - Updated drivers for the drive
3 - Downloaded the lightscribe software
4 - Switched serial ports

I can't seem to find ANYTHING about this particular model of DVD burner on the HP website or with a google search.

I'm running Windows XP. Any help is appreciated.

For anyone else who might have this issue ... I got a reply from HP today. Turned out to be a registry problem.

If you have a problem of installing, please choose Start > Run. Type "regedit"
in the Open text box and then click OK.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services, delete the
"LightScribeService" folder. Then reboot your PC and try again.
In addition, the following setting needs to be changed in the Windows Registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
The string "allocatecdroms" must be set to "0"
