CD/DVD is there but won't read

I have a computer that will not play an audio CD or recognise a data disk. I have deleted the high and low filters in the registry which helped, I can burn a CD, run a DVD and recognise a blank disk. but When I use "My Computer" to access and play an audio CD or run a data disk the DVD drive shows "0 free space" and "0 total size". Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated...

Hi, welcome to TSF

Combo drives use 2 separate lasers, one for CD and one for DVD, so if the CD laser is damaged or dirty it doesn't affect DVD playback.

Try a CD lens cleaning kit. If that doesn't work, replace the drive.
