my dvd drive has ceased to work on my pc. the drive is fine, i tested it on my brothers computer. i thought it might be the mem so i replaced it-still nothing. the connections all seem fine. the only other thing i can currently think of is that it might be my hard drive or my mobo. im confused as hell and i'd appreciate any one else's opinion.

Re: dvd drive not working
When you say it ceased to work.. you mean in Windows? How about BIOS, have you tried using a bootable CD? If your PC can boot from the DVD drive then it means you BIOS still sees it. Try that first.

So if BIOS sees it... does it appear in your My Computer?

Re: dvd drive not working
So your problem now is to install XP in another partition (HDD has Vista already installed and is running OK)?
