CD/DVD Drive not detecting

Computer Specs:
HP Pavilion dv9000
Windows Vista SP1
AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.90 GHz
2 ~100GB internal HDDs

Recently I noticed that the CD/DVD bay drive is not detecting the CDs I place in it. I don't use it a whole lot because all my media is usually downloaded directly. I first noticed it when I went to place the CD which contains my class files needed for a few assignments, and the computer wouldn't read it (luckily the same files were available online). If I double clicked the icon in My Computer, it would pop out the drive and tell me to insert a CD. Next it happened with a music CD somebody gave me.

When I put these CD's in, I can here them spin for a few seconds, but then die down. I did look for driver updates on the HP website, but they did not have any.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.
