Combo drive problem[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

I have a combo drive which has suddenly stopped working, I suspect after I had put a old CD which it could not read a few days back. I can see the DVD/CD driver in my computer and when I double-click it opens as empty. Is there a problem with the lens? I have tried uninstalling Secondary IDE and also the Combo drive and rebooting but nothing seems to work.

Re: Combo drive problem

maybe defective drive. have you tried a cd/dvd rom cleaner ? maybe the optical reader is dirty. or do you have nero 6 or 7 installed nero has a optical drive tester. use it to test your drive.... post back results...
