USB went through wash and dryer

I didn't catch it until I restarted the dryer (heard a loud noise, the case was already broken and exposed the circuits) I tried plugging it in on two different computers and it doesn't work now. Is there a way to recover the hopefully still stored data on it as I plan on getting a new one?
It's been through before but the case was intact then.
Sorry first post makes me sound like a newb.

Re: USB went through wash and dryer

Being a flash drive the chance are probably no.
There is no phyisical disc, it is all electronic. The washer cycle probably killed the drive by shorting out the electronics
Hopefully you have the data saved somewhere else, so you can transfer it to a new flash drive.
If not, I would recommend doing so in the future as flash drives are not that reliable (IMO).

Re: USB went through wash and dryer

I found this* in a google search, does it sound right? If not this does it sound like there might be a chance? I also go to a technical school and maybe they'll have people that can do it...

*I don't know why but there's annoying music on the page. Maybe turn your sound down.

Re: USB went through wash and dryer

They maybe able to retrieve the data, but is the $35.00+ worth the price?
If the data you have on this flash drive is not replacable, they may beable to retrieve it.
I have never had this issue or have used this company.

I know data is the most important thing on a computer, but I would not trust any ONE device to this task. I have several backups and types (CD, Flash Drive, External harddrive etc.)

Thanks,
Bill
