Basic problem: computers won't recognize CD-R when trying to burn
Type of Disc: HP Lightscribe CD-R Computer1 (Sola): HP MediaCenter M7470 Desktop running XP SP3 Computer2 (Sev): HP Pavillion Slimline running Vista Computer3 (hunny): PowerBook G4 running Leopard Both desktops don't have a problem burning normal (non-lightscribe) CD-R's or Lightscribe (Memorex brand) DVD-R's. On both desktops, it will rip the source CD (VCD), but won't accept a blank HP brand Lightscribe CD-R as blank and asks for a different disc. The only thing we can think of is if the quality deteriorates from sitting. These CD's were bought 2 1/2 years ago. This is the first time in two years that we have tried to burn these CD's. It did work two years ago on Sola (didn't have Sev back then). Tonight we burned two DVD's no problem, front and back. Hunny is able to recognize the HP Lightscribe CD-R as blank, but we aren't able to rip the source CD because of an input/output error. However, this error does not effect direct-to-disc copying for some reason. To settle the issue for immediate need, we just burned the CD to a normal CD-R, which worked just fine. We want to know how to resolve this, because it's really aggravating to have an HP disc drive that doesn't recognize HP CD's. Any help would be great, thanks.
