CD drive not working (sony cd-rw crx320e)

Suddenly my cd drive stopped working on my desktop pc. This happened to my laptop too about 3 months ago but is fixed now thanks to TECH SUPPORT FORUM! THANKS!! On my desktop I deleted the upper & lower filters in the registry files, uninstalled the driver, rebooted and the cd drive reinstalled itself and now notes that it is working properly in the device manager. Although when i put any CD in the drive, it spins like its running but nothing happens. There is no CD drive visable in MY COMPUTER. I dont know what else to do!!!

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver many times and rebooted my comp many many times, but still nothing......

I am running Windows XP on my desktop pc and my cd driver is sony cd-rw crx320e.

Can some one please help?!?!

uninstall and reinstall your burning software
can you try the drive on another computer to check the drive itself is ok

How do you uninstall the cd/dvd rom for it to reinstall itself?

you just right click on it's listing and choose uninstall
windows reloads it on the reboot
