Cd Drive Missing?
All of a sudden my CDRW drive on my Dell Desktop (XP PRO, SP3) no longer works nor does it show up anywhere on my pc.
It open and closes but nothing else. I swapped out another cd drive and that doesn't show as well. I tried swapping IDE cables and still, nothing. I have done virus and spyware scans, downloading all windows updates and nothing changes. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks you! |

Re: Cd Drive Missing?
"This sometimes happens when you install new CD burning software or system updates.
Go to Start > Run > regedit to open the Registry Editor. Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values from this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Then reboot. Important: Make a backup (File > Export) before making any changes to the registry." Copied from another thread. This worked for me. |

Re: Cd Drive Missing?
Yes, deleting the upper and lower filters might indeed help.
