USB device unrecognized

I built my new rig and got it going. I put my chipset drivers (Nforce P5NSLI) on a usb stick and put it on my new comp. Installed all the drivers from the manufacturer. After I restart and try and plug in the usb stick, it's not recognized if I put it in the front panel usb slots. On the I/O it doesn't even light up. Now when I put the same usb stick on another computer it doesn't light up either and there is no pop up. It's like it doesn't exist. What happened?

Re: USB device unrecognized

You have probably fried USB stick when you plug in front panel USB slot...
Look in manual how do you need to sort wires... If you have missplaced ground [black] wire, you have propably fried USB...

Re: USB device unrecognized

Ahhhh thanks for that. I realized what my problem was. The Ground wires weren't plugged in. (I got the p5nsli mobo, the xblade case, 4 gigs of RAM, a 7600GT PCIE,a 260 GB IDE HD from a friend who runs a Internet cafe that was forced to shut down. I guess he didn't plug in the ground wires cuz the usb ports weren't needed for an internet cafe that runs Cyber Cafe on start up.). Damn...dumb mistake for not checking cost me 2 sticks. Oh well...it was a 1 gig stick. Guess that teaches me to be more careful in the future.
