Question [SOLVED] Sony CD-R/RW differences

Can someone explain the differences in the Sony CRX195A1 & CRX210E1 burners? Both were manufactured in July of 2002. Installation will be on Windows ME initally & changed to Windows XP with SP2 after saving some files to the CD'S.
Thanks

Re: Sony CD-R/RW differences

you just set the jumper on the back to master or slave
plug in the data and power cables
and away you go no need to load drivers ect

Re: Sony CD-R/RW differences

I have 3 selections for the jumper, it is set on slave, others available are cable select & master. When I installed the unit I hooked up the power & data cables. I can open & close the disk tray, but that is it. Any other suggestions.
Thanks for your reply

Re: Sony CD-R/RW differences

My data cable has black plugs only & is connected to the end one. I did change the jumper from slave to master. Nothing has ever shown in the BIOS.
Thanks

Question Re: Sony CD-R/RW differences

Replaced the cable & got it working fine. Created another problem in doing so. My floppy drive doesn't work now, gives the (40) error code. I've checked the cable connections, reversed the cable (in case I had reversed it when installing the other one as I had disconnected it), disconnected the CD player & writer drive units, tried another floppy drive that was working O.K. in another computer & checked the BIOS. The light stays on all the time, none of the above things I tried changed anything. Any suggestions on this one?
Thanks,
John

Thumbs Up Re: Sony CD-R/RW differences

Finally got things straightened out, had plugged the floppy drive into the end plug on the data cable with multiple connectors, it should have been plugged in to one which is about 1" from the end. Thanks for your help.
