Incorrect path to drive problem

Hi,

I have a Phillips SPD2412T ATA dvd/cd-rom drive and when I try to open the drive or play music via 'Computer' by either double clicking the icon or right click>open, I get a message saying -

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

This only happens with music cd's (both originals and copys) and not software etc.

I can burn and open the cd using safe mode with no problems.

Thanks in advance for any help given,

Re: Incorrect path to drive problem

probably the UAC. Hold the shift button and right click. In the menu click the run as administrator option.

Re: Incorrect path to drive problem

Tried that, even with UAC disabled it still doesn't work.

Re: Incorrect path to drive problem

Soz. Ive been working so not been online much. I have had a little look into this problem and ive also noticed that it happens on mine as well!! I put in a music cd and media player comes up an error saying it cant access the files.

Had a look on google and that didnt even turn up anything helpful. My guess would be that it has something to do wit the DRM thing that they've stuck on Vista but dunno how to get round it

Well that's it!!! I'm going to get rid of Vista and install XP Pro. I'm fed up with Vista and it's problems.

Re: Incorrect path to drive problem

As I said its a theory so I would go overturning the whole system because of it lol. Im just hoping someone might chime in and give us an idea?

Maybe move this to the vista section?
