MP3 Player problem

It appears my computer hates MP3 players. I hate Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista, and am using the newest version of Windows Media Player.

The first MP3 player I had worked fine until one day, in the middle of synching new songs onto the MP3 Player, my computer stopped recognizing it. It was still plugged in and nothing had happened to it. So, I unplugged it, and then plugged it back in. This time, it said I had 25 or so MB left, which was correct, but when I looked at my WMP playlist, it said there were no on my MP3 player. I listened through my MP3 player, and everything was still on there. So, I plugged in my MP3 player again, and it said there was an error last time, and asked it I wanted to delete everything. So, I did, but it never finished deleting all the songs. They all showed on my playlist in WMP, but it just kept cycling through them, so I stopped it. This time, it said there were only eight songs on my mp3 player. So, I listened to my player, and there were only eight songs. But, it still said that I only had 25 or whatever amount of MB left. Then, it stopped recognizing my MP3 player at all, and then it wouldn't even turn on anymore.

So I thought it was probably just a cheap MP3 player, and got a new one. This one was working fine until about 20 minutes ago, when for no reason, while it was still plugged in and nothing happened to it, it said my MP3 player wasn't plugged in anymore. It wasn't while I was synching songs this time, but while I was deleting songs to make room for new ones. Now, whenever I plug this one in, it says there is only one song left on WMP, and 55 MB left. But all of the songs are still on the actual MP3 player.

So, yeah, I'd appreciate if someone could help me on this. I really don't have the money for a new one.
