OS: windows xp


my usb ports are not working

i am running windows xp and i have an mp3 player, the usb ports dont seem to be working even though, it sais device is working properly, i tried uninstalling and re installing them, i also unistalled an re installed the root hub, could it be that i need to enable usb in bios? or do i need another mother board?

Enable all items in the bios setup menu.
Go to the device manager (start, control panel, syste, hardware, device manager) and scroll down to the USB devices and open with the + sign. Then, right click on each item under there and select "update Drivers." If that doesn't fix it, then in the same area, uninstall all items, reboot and let it find them again and that should help.

Be sure you have Sp2 set up on this rig so you have the advanced 2.0 working. Hope you have all the chipset drivers installed, because you should have if you don't.
