Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

I use Maxell wich is the brand I pretty much always use. I've tried the re-writes as well
won't take either. It won't accept any type of dvd. It will take CD-r though and reads audio and data cds

Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

If you have Uninstalled/Reinstalled the drivers (XP should have done that)
Have successfully removed the UPPER/LOWER Filters
Uninstalled/Reinstalled the related DVD/CD Programs
Tried a different Brand of Media
Then the only thing left is to replace is DVD/CD-ROM.
You may wish to go over what you have done to be sure, before you replace it.

Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

Hi,
The DVD Codecs would have come with your DVD Player program (ex. WinDVD, Power DVD)

Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

after switching the two drives I still have the same problem. I installed dvd writer into an older computer running XP upgrade the burner still won't take dvd's so guess its time for
a new burner.

Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

Hi,
I would have to agree with you, especially if it did not work on another PC.
Atleast you know it was not an OS issue on your PC.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

Hi Mike,
Helping is what I enjoy, especially if I can resolve an issue.
In your case I was hoping that we could have cleared this up but sometimes it does not work out that way.

On a good note, a new CD-Rom is not that expensive and is easy to install.

Let me know how you make out with your new CD-Rom
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Need Help File Filters/DVD Burner

You have a IDE/PATA drive (Not SATA)
