Re: PC doesn't detect a DVD
Hi mafia and welcome to TSF
![]() Do this if you haven't already tried: start button->run type in "diskmgmt.msc" (without quotes) see if your CD drive is listed there below the hard disk partition diagram. If it's there, you probably just have to assign a drive letter to it. Right click it -> add drive letter If it's not listed there, then a connection to the drive might be loose. Please check all the connection. Post back your findings. |

Re: PC doesn't detect a DVD
hey thanks for your rapid reply gogeta.
See in disk management i see the cd/dvd drive ,its letter(E:) and status- healthy. but i can't open 1 dvd in particular. it appears like this (DVD name) (E:) 1.64 GB Healthy While a dvd which runs good has an extension something like 'UDF' just after its memory info. ( like after 1.64 GB in above example) Thanx and reply soon |

Re: PC doesn't detect a DVD
Can you read the DVD on another computer? It might be that the DVD is bad. Have you tried a DVD drive lens cleaner?
You can't open the disk at all? Or is there some error that you get? If the disk is bad, you might want to recover whatever recoverable data is there. Last edited by ssj4Gogeta; 11-07-2008 at 04:54 AM. |

Re: PC doesn't detect a DVD
Gogeta,
It's my friend's DVD so it obviously runs well on his PC. I am unknown to what is a DVD drive lens cleaner. As far as opening the disk is concerned, the PC freezes and recovers after a very long time Thanx |
