I don't know why, when I insert a CD/DVD (Clean with no Scratch) it Cannot read it! *tryed* 1,try to make sure if your vista CD doesn't has scratches or even finger prints: It's All Good. 2, does vista cd/dvd working on other cd/dvd drives ? Yes. 3, does your cd/dvd drive works fine and read other dvd/cds ? No, reads nothing anymore. Any help here please? Thanks. |

Re: CD-Driver Problem
Also check for the obvious, like are any of the cables (data and power) loose, or even try a new cable, or swap it with your other DVD drive.
If you could read and write before, but can do neither now, could simply be a dead drive - they're so cheap to replace these days. When you insert a disc, does it spin up? Finally one last thing to try is this. While Vista is running, insert a Vista DVD in the drive. Try browsing. Most likely you won't even see the DVD, but that's just to check. Now just restart the computer and leave the DVD in the drive. If necessary, go to your BIOS setup and set the boot order so the CD drive boots first. Are you able to boot into Windows Vista setup from the DVD? If yes, the problem is with Vista. If no, it's with the drive. (to exit setup, just press ctrl-alt-del, or click cancel at any of the prompts) |

Re: CD-Driver Problem
Check the Device Manager.
START | type devmgmt.msc into the start search box and hit enter Are there any red/yellow flags present? Go to the DVD/CD ROM drives, expand the tree, right-click on the DVD drive and select un-install. Then re-boot. Vista will re-install the driver for you. See if this does anything to help. Regards. . . jcgriff2 . |

Re: CD-Driver Problem
If the above doesn't work you should trying removing the upper/lower filters in the registry for your cdroms then restart the system. (dont' forget to backup the entry)
I cannot recall where exactly the location is for that key but google should give you the answer. (just search for upper lower filter cdrom) |
