Corrupted Device or port (USB)

Hello, I went to hook my Webcam up to another USB port and it said that the device was unrecognizable or corrupted. So I switched it back to the normal one i had it in before and got the same error (It was working 3 minutes before this) then switched it to my laptop and go the same error on all 4 ports on it. Could it be a deficient USB port on my PC corrupted the entire device (120USD webcam)?

Re: Corrupted Device or port (USB)

Ok did that and its still getting the same message.

I've had this problem with other USB devices that have been plugged into this particular USB slot by the way. Only my joystick was the one to survive (others included USB storage devices)

Re: Corrupted Device or port (USB)

All my USBs except the front 2 on my PC work along with all 4 on my laptop. They all recognize everything else except my webcam (which was plugged into a front one that i forgot corrupts stuff).

I uninstalled the drivers for my webcam, unplugged, restarted, installed drivers, plugged in, and nothing. I even did a system repair tool with vista and it is still an unknown device.

I get this error on my laptop too which has nothing wrong/damaged with it. I have replugged my keyboard, mouse, joystick, webcam in different fashions in the rear USB slots and only the webcam is not being recognized.

Re: Corrupted Device or port (USB)

This sucks. I'm gonna keep trying a few more things hopefully it'll work but yes it is still under standard return policy via Newegg. Do you think updating the mobo drivers and bios could help at all?

Re: Corrupted Device or port (USB)

you can try it but as it is the same on both computers it would seem like it is faulty

Re: Corrupted Device or port (USB)

I think the USB port fried something. I had this webcam since March and it was working no less than 1 minute before putting it in the other USB slot. Could it be the USB short circuited something inside the webcam? Also is there anyway to flash it to fix it in any form?
