DVD Drive not working properly
I have a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B. It is a DVD +/- RW Burner drive. Just about ever since I had it, it never worked quite right. At first, the drive would close without me telling it to. This problem disappeared after a while. Then, sometimes it would not read a disc at first. And I would have to open it and close it several times for it to work.
Then, one fateful day, my computer was overloaded or something, and i was frustrated, so i decided to do a hard shut down. After that, the icon for my DVD drive in My Computer changed, and it would not read a disc at all, and hasn't since. When i load a disc, i can hear the computer making noise, and I will see my cursor have the little disc next to it, indicating it's trying to read the disc, but nothing will happen. I replaced the cable connecting the DVD drive to the motherboard and nothing happened. I also had to do a destructive recovery due to malware a few days ago, and the DVD drive remained unaffected. My biggest fear is that the 40 pin port on the motherboard is shorted out or got burnt out or something bad like that. perhaps it is the port in the DVD drive. Or perhaps it is something in the BIOs or whatever that someone can tell me how to fix. Any help would be appreciated =) |

Re: DVD Drive not working properly
the psu is the power supply unit take the side off the cade and look at the label on it
on the advanced page in the bios look for hardware monitoring or something similar for the 12v figure

Re: DVD Drive not working properly
i put another drive in my computer and it worked, so i find it reasonable to assume that the old one just doesn't work anymore, though i don't nkow why. but i ordered a new one should be here soon. looking forward to having one :P
