Need your thoughts on this, I want to fix my flash drive with solder

My granddaughter bent my flash drive a couple of times while in the computer and busted off the usb port.
The dope that I am shouldn't have left it there....
anyways what I'm going to attempt to do is solder the wires from a usb mouse to the flash drive..
so far I have cut the end off of the mouse, and I have exposed the 4 wires and the ground.
The wires that I have exposed and hope are:
1 Red +5VDC
2 white data-
3 green data+
4 black ground
then just a copper cable no shielded.

my problem is what I found for pin assignments is the black is ground
I'm thinking that A is the correct one for my pny 4 gb flashdrive

what you guys think? am I like off the wall here or could this really work?

Thanks a lot,
