Protecting a USB Flash Drive?
I'd like to know if there is some way to protect my USB Flash Drive. I've found plenty of programs that can create password protected folders to protect my data. I'm not really that worried about the data. I don't keep personal info on the drive. I'm more worried about the drive itself. I'm a college student and I'm constantly using the public computers on campus. That's where I use my flash drive and it can easily be forgotten. I left my last drive and someone decided to take it. Never turned into Lost and Found, never contacted me with info from the "Read if Found" file.
Is there any way I can completely lock the drive and make it useless without a password. If the drive is locked and useless to them, they might be more inclined to return it. Password protected folders can be deleted if you don't care about the data and all you're after is a free flash drive. The drive I have is an ativa 2GB. The program or whatever would need to be self contained on the flash drive as I can not install separate security software on the school computers. Is this at all possible or just too much to ask for. (also, I already have a new flash drive so please don't suggest I buy new secure drive.) |
