Having a Wierd Problem with my dvd/cd drive

A friend of mine gave me his dvd/cd drive its an LG hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-h10l for some reason It happens to work on windows vista but when I went to install windows xp pro. service pack 3 its reading it as a cd drive which is now only letting me burn audio files but not a dvd I uninstalled it reinstalled it went to device manager check to see if anything was wrong said its perfectly fine any answers would help thanks

try removing the upper and lower filters
