My external removeable hard drive is not working at all, when i connect the drive with usb cable to my computer than it shows connected but when i open my my computer or try to explor the drive it hangs the system and stop working whole system but when i just unplug the cable my sytem start working, so could anyone help me please, is becoz of viruses or something else, any help really will be appriciated, Thanks

When its powered on and connected, you should get a new hardware
found pop up. Go into disk management and see if its there. If it is you may have to allocate it, not format allocate. When you are done using the device you need to go to system tray and safely remove hardware. I would not keep it turned on all of the time, I would just power it up when you use it. I would not leave it powered up on boot up, as this causes problems sometimes with the boot order, and boot up.
