hi TSF and pals. I recently bought a new dvd burner and it seems to work fine, but the problem is that after i burn a video whether it be on an RW or regular R. it will get all choppy and slow whenever the screen goes black. like if the lights in the video fade out. as soon as its black on screen the sound and video get really choppy and start cutting out. This has happened with every video ive burned and they have been from multiple sources. the only constants are the burner which is a sony sumthin. and i use the program ImgBurn. Unless the problem might be DVD Flick. i use that too cuz it allows me to just dump ne video files in there and itll make an .ISO for me. Plz any help would be great.

Ok well i downloaded them and i can give it a try again but one thing i fear u dont realize is that im not watching it on my computer. This is after its been burned i take it to my dvd player or put it in my xbox and i play it from THERE and i get the weird cutting out during any part where the screen is black or the scene is rly dark and not necessarily black.

Ok so i quickly burned a little video file and it still does it even after the Codec pack. everything works fine when i watch the video on my computer, and everything works fine if i transport it on a flashdrive or sumthing and watch it on antother computer. the problem is somewhere in the conversion from avi to vob or somewhere in there during the burning process or sumthing. i just dont know what to do and its very frustrating.

why do you convert avi to vob????!?!
AVI is a better format
instead of trying to convert it why don't you just up the quality

try using this player instead of bothering with silly codecs

lol o my that got out of hand fast. no no no. im not converting it to vob i just put the file into DvDFlick and it creates an iso image for me. i then burn that to a disc. like i say it plays absolutely fine on my computer as an avi. its THE DISK that has the issues in the computer,or on a dvd player. like i said before its only during the dark scenes that it becomes incredibly choppy. i just said vob cuz i figure thats what it turns it into before making the image. idfk what im talkin about tho.

Hmm heres sumthing interesting. When i play the dvd using my computer it actually does work during dark scenes but the WHOLE TIME it soudns like theyre under water. like theyre lightly garggling sumthing the whole time. its like its choppy bbut its chopping rly fast and not skipping ne frames. like maybe its just a bit slower. not sure what that means but hopefully it helps in diagnosis.

Dang!!! i keep trying things and the plot just keeps thickening. ok so i have my dvd burner and i have previously always played dvds in it. i tried to put it in my dvd rom drive and it plays perfectly all teh time. like its not choppy during any scene light or dark. and the sound is perfect everything is jsut right. so.... what the heck is rly goin on here?

Hi, the Codecs will only help you watch movies or play music in WindowsXP.

The problem seems to be the format you're burning your files to, and/or the quality of blank media you're using.
You should also burn at the slowest speed to get a better copy.

Also, if you've been installing and uninstalling a lot of different burning software you could probably do with cleaning your hard disk and registry. Your DVD ROM will be playing things perfect because it's filters haven't been installed, uninstalled, updated and altered, unlike your burner.
When you change burning software, especially the free stuff, settings and filters etc get left behind and interfere with the operation of your burner.

ok well i think it may have been the registry thing because i had tried a few different programs before this and didnt clean up the registry afterward. but either way ive got it working now so thank u very much. : )
