OS: windows vista home premium

cd, dvd disk drive ? drive E? disapeared
I can't find drive E, or whatever, to play any type of disk. What could have happened that I can't find this, don't have a clue or were to look, running vista, found out when I tried to burn a data disk. Please I need help I am learning slowly about computers this drive is internal.

Is the drive detected in My Computer or in the Device Manager? If detected in Device Manager uninstall the device and restart Windows. Try deleting the filters using the manual fix from the site below. http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...060&x=12&y=13# If the drive is not detected by Windows then boot the system into BIOS. In BIOS make sure that the drive is being recognized.
