I downloaded a DVD, now I need help to burn it.

Today I bought like 10 DVD-RW cds to burn my favorite movies into. I also downloaded Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 free to burn..I tried burning the movies but it says no cd is detected. i went over to my device manager and clicked on DVD/CD-ROM drives. There I saw HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE 8400B. what is this and is it for dvd? if not how can i install a dvd drive on my computer?

Re: I downloaded a DVD, now I need help to burn it.

Looks like you have a cd burner, not cd/dvd. Buy a cd/dvd burner,
install it like the other one, if you buy a ide drive pay attention to the
jumpers on the back. They usually come with instructions, not very
hard. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being hard I would give this a 1.
Make sure to unplug pc from wall anytime you fool around inside of case.

DVD-rom? DVD-rws need a dvd burner to write to them. A dvd rom drive will only read.

I use infrarecorder to burn images to disks, it seems to work best.

If these movies were downloaded illegally, we cannot help you.

That's a DVD-rom drive. You won't be able to burn a DVD with that.

As long as it supports the media you get (+ vs -) and your computer supports SATA (if you get a serial ata drive) then any one should do.

Re: I downloaded a DVD, now I need help to burn it.

The OP admitted he had downloaded Narnia - which is a copyrighted movie - in another thread. Warning for illegal activities given (no infraction points) and thread closed.
