can not burn DVD -R, DVD +R or DVD RW

Hello, I have been having a lot of trouble (no success) trying to burn DVDs. I have tried TDK DVD-R, Verbatim DVD +R and Verbatim DVD RW - all absolutely brand new discs. I tried switching DLA on and off. I also tried switching CD burning on and off.

I don't remember having any success with burning DVDs ever on this laptop - although I have burned quite a few cds! Also, I was forced to change the region a few times - it is "Region 2" now - I think I have 2 changes left on the drive (I would love to know how to get around this problem as well - since I live in Estonia where the DVD rents both Estonian region DVDs and Russia region DVDs!!) I really am at a loss at this point. Please help.

There is a way to get around region codes, but we can't tell you.

As for the DVD burning, what drive do you have? Does it say it can burn DVDs?

It is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ 830S - and as far as I understand it is designed to read and write to virtually all types of DVDs (perhaps not the very latest "double/triple/quadruple sided ones" that I am quite frankly not really up to speed on anyway!)
