Can't find cd drives after new install
I have a Sony Vaio with Windows Media Center OS. It came with two drives, a DVD-RW and a CD-RW (but will read dvds). I replaced the CD drive after it appeared to take a dump a few days ago. Since then, my computer won't recognize the drives. I have done the registry fix with filters and that hasn't worked. Nothing is showing on the device manager. When I search for new hardware, it find both drives, tells me it is done installing them but will not work until reboot. When I reboot, nothing is there once again.
Help??? New drive is Pioneer DVR-115DBK. I have tried downloading drivers for both drives but that hasn't helped anything. |

Re: Can't find cd drives after new install
Found the problem. I did not change the jumpers when I installed the new drive (didn't even know what they were until I ran across it somewhere on this site). Once I changed one of them to become a slave drive (they were both set as masters), the computer found and installed them with no problems. Hopefully this might help someone else if this happens to you.
