dvd drive issue

computer dual xeon workstation, I built. 4 hard drives, 1 cd, 2 dvd drives, all three play cds, recently dvds result in black screen in wmp, windvd just says "have encountered a problem have to close. The dvds seem to recognize that a dvd is inserted. Gives the name of movie etc. but screen black and no audio from dvd. Tried reinstalling and updating drivers. Device manager says all working properly. 4 gigs memory working properly, Quadro fx 4000 video card working properly. Both dvd drives are Plexor. Not likely that both went out at once. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be or what to try to pinpoint it.. Thanks
