My Sony DVD Drive not working

I ve [sony dwd rw aw - g170A] insatlled in my p.c. its exactly 1 year plus old.
The problem is when i put the DVD in the drive - it always tries reading but ends up in no joy.

The strange part is its not able to read new DVd's only. Why is that so.

I had teh same problem earlier few months back.
As it was under warranty i took it to the service centre, i saw the rep doing some firmware upgradation and eventually got it worked only for 3 odd months .. Now again the same problem.

Updating teh drivers dint helped. So i ve just uninstalled the drivers through dev manager, hoping it ll be restored after restarting my p.c.But now the CD icon in the My computer has disappeared.

Plz help me with this.
