PLEASE...I Challenge ANYONE To Solve This 'Burn' Issue

Whatta ya do when EVERYTHING is set up 100% correctly?

i should say i do have an Asus P5PE-VM motherboard.

i've done it all as far as troubleshoot!

One day Burn, next day, no Burn and you'll see in my 'specs' that everything points to, "Wow, this thing HAS to be burning"

I changed my Sony drive because i thought it HAD to be the drive...i bet i didn't need to...

because i'd enjoyed just amazingly beautiful quality movies for a week, and then BOOM...JUST the burning feature....gone!

i then changed to an LG drive...of course...same issue happened.

please, please help...it's been two months and an incredible weight trying to research the answer for two months, every day straight...and all hours each night i kid you not.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled the three burn programs many times.

and i need to tell you i have just reinstalled my Windows XP and all is 100%clean, with all drivers reinstalled and everything up to date now... and you know it.....right back to day one....simply NOT burning at all.

my specs:

I have an ASUS P5PE-VM motherboard.

I have my one-and-only HDD connected by SATA Cable to the
motherboard, therefore no adjustments need to be taken as far as jumper settings.

Western Digital HDDs do not need any adjusting, and supports 'Cable select', which i have set to my DVD-/+RW/CD-/+RW LG Drive: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N 1.05....and then i have my regular DVD drive

just my HDD alone connected by SATA Cable to motherboard.

and my LG drive connected by 18" Ultra DMA Cable, to the 'primary' IDE Channel...no other drives connected to the Cable.

and my regular DVD drive alone on it's own regular ribbon cable (not an Ultra Cable), connected to the 'secondary' IDE port.

so it's just my HDD and my LG Drive, and my DVD drive connected, oh and my floppy is still connected.

my LG drive is on 'Cable Select'...and so is my DVD drive.

In device manager...NEVER has my 'advanced settings' showed
'PIO' mode, never, for ANY device...it always has said, 'DMA'.

i have done the deleting, several times, of the Secondary channels....nothing.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

this is the last convert and burn try in ConvertXtoDVD...and the ONLY reason i converted first here honestly????...

i was really hoping somehow the converting would 'slap' the burning awake:

notice i'm using Sony discs, reccommended as excellent discs, and the very ones i used for those awesome quality movies before.

this is what my discs look like EVERY single time, after every burn try........

okay, they won't let me upload the same pic i posted to my other thread, so i'm including the link to my previous thread before this one....

this has the pic of how my discs look after a burn try, and my system information on this first page here:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/motherboards-bios-cpu/248164-asus-techs-forum-members-please-you-re-my-last-hope-help.html

well thank you so much for reading this and if you can find it in your heart to try to help me bring my burn back, i would greatly appreciate it.

i have all the patients in the world for this now after the reinstall because i just know it's always been something really, really simple.

Thank you,
Rob

Re: PLEASE...I Challenge ANYONE To Solve This 'Burn' Issue

hi C.

thank you sir.

i really appreciate your helping me.

i need anything at this point.

i tried your suggestion C, and i deleted the burn programs (ConvertXtoDVD, DVD Flick and Imgburn) before doing this fix...

both from Add/Remove, AND in Current User/Local Machine entries, so i know they were all deleted entirely...i ran Guided Help...

so i tried it, but to no avail, as i got this result:

guidedhelpresult.jpg

but i WILL try everything as the end of my rope has already passed lol

IMPORTANT:

C, i should mention also that i have tried all three burn programs (ConvertXtoDVD, DVD Flick and Imgburn) extensively over the two months...uninstalling/reinstalling and tweaking along the way as people gave suggestions

plus, and this is just as important...

all three programs 'convert' files perfectly (please...techs and people in all other forums couldn't seem to get this to sink in)...

Converting is not a problem here...

so it is ONLY the burning feature, so it MUST be on my end because of this right?

remember, these programs stopped their burning feature at the same time, so just the burning is not happening here.

C, if i had to guess here to help anyone helping........and i don't know anything here, but after seemingly eliminating all other possibilities and researching...

is it possible this issue may lie in my I/O 828O1EB controller hub?

if so...could it be that i need the I/O 82801ER controller hub?

i had tried this, and after researching on Google, in order to get this hub, i first needed to download the infinst_autol file (the file i need before installing the iata55_enu application).

then, i've downloaded the iata55_enu application, which is the application that would give me an update to my 828O1EB hub, i THINK it will anyway - if i researched correctly...

but... an error box said, "not compatible" - even AFTER installing the infinst_autol file.

so, even though it said "not compatible", i'm still wondering here if i need the I/O 82801ER controller hub...if i guessed.

...so it's my best attempt at a reasonable guess here...i would love for your opinion or judgement on this C if you can sir.

i'm also including these pics of what my Device Manager states for my media devices, ONLY because they look different then everyone else's who have their burning feature working fine:

first the tree showing the Controllers:

devicetree.jpg

first Primary IDE Channel (showing LG burn drive):

firstprimary.jpg

second Primary IDE Channel (showing my HDD):

secondprimary.jpg

first Secondary IDE channel (showing regular DVD drive):

Attachment 29062

second Secondary Channel (again, i HAVE tried deleting this one several times):

secondsecondary.jpg

and that's all i can think of that could help anyone helping me...

and again C, thank you for taking the time for your reply...

i really really appreciate it...

if you see something or have any ideas, please please let me know.

thanks again,
Rob

my LG drive is on 'Cable Select'...and so is my DVD drive.
Seeing that you have the LG™ and the DVD on separate cables/ribbons, try pinning them both as "Master" on their respective cable/ribbon.
