cd-rom & dvd rom
I have a Dell Dimension E310 and operate on Windows xp (service pack 3). I download a lot of music and recently my cd-rom & dvd-rom drives have not been recognizing any audio cd that I put in them. I can no longer burn music onto cds. I have updated windows, tried several different brands of cds, checked in device manager and it says that these devices are working properly. What else do you recommend I do to try to fix this problem?..

Re: cd-rom & dvd rom
Thanks for the advice but I can access my drive through "my computer" and I am not recieving any of those messages. I believe my drives are simply not recognizing when there are disks in them. It will continually say please insert a disk, when I already have on in the drive. If you think your suggestion would still be the remedy then I will still try it.

Re: cd-rom & dvd rom
Hi,
Cleaning of the upper and lower filters may help in either case. This link may better suit your problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q316529 Did you have this issue before you installed SP3? Bill |
