Mistake No cd-rom detected

Hi, I have an old dell optiplex g1 that I want to get working. When I start it up it will boot from a hard drive. But when it comes up with win98 and I click on my computer it doesen't have a cd-rom drive and it dosent even show up in the bios settings. I had a dell optiplex g1 before that did the same thing, and when I put the same harddrive in one of my other computers, it comes up with the cd-rom drive in the my computer window.
Is there a spesific resen for this? Is there a remidey? Or am i just stuck?Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My System

Re: No cd-rom detected

It might be unplugged from the system internally, see if there is a loose plug coming from the cd drive. Maybe your power supply is screwed, it could be a whole bunch of tings with that old of a computer. it could just be fried, you need a new cd drive. If it isn't detected in Windowslist of Hardware, then the drive is either fried or unplugged. It could be something else software or registry related, but Ihave no idea how to fix registry stuff. good luck

Re: No cd-rom detected

win 98 required a generic driver to be loaded from the 98 startup disk for the cd
