DVD/CD-ROM Drives

CD/DVD-rom drives are not detected by the computer all cable hooked up. any ideas?

How do you have them hooked up? What are the jumpers set at for each (be specific for each)? Where are they located on the ribbon cable (which drive is where)? What are the specs of your computer?

jumpers? i have them hooked up in two consecutive ports on ribbon cable. located on the end is the dvd drive and on the second from last is the cd-rom drive. computer is dell dimension 8200 i just put in two new drives one was detected for a week and then just disappeared
