cannot write DVD or CD

Hii guys
i have a problem related to my DVD writer. I have a COMPAQ V6102AU laptop.My DVD Drive is TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-L632D with firmwire version HH15. I tried to write a DVD .Writing was completed but when i insert the disc it shows again as blank Disc. I tried again with a fresh disc. same result I also tried to write other data also . Result is the same. CDs written was also like this since about a year ago but that time DVDs had no trouble. From yesterday onwards it started with DVDs too.

Did you tried to open DVD or CD??? I have Acer Aspire 5720Z and when I burn DVD or CD, when I insert it in my drive, doee not show anything. It is as I never inserted media in drive.
I need to double-click on it and by this way, I can open context of my DVD or CD media.
Drive roll media, but no success in showing that media is in drive...

oh sorry mate just saw u posted that when you insert and try to open it says that disc is blank. But off-topic, does anyone knows answer to my question

Boss i tried. No use. R u sure its related to Software. Will flashing the drive firmwire do any good?

Check the burned discs in another computer.
How old is the drive?

Yes it is reading in other drives. I cant read the discs written by me!!. I bought the laptop on nov 2006. One thing i noticed is when i right click on the drive in MY COMPUTER and take properties/hardware tab/drive properties/DVD region, the current region is showing as REGION 1. Is this a prob?

Region 1 is the U.S and Canada, but I don't think that's the problem.

A firmware upgrade might help.
