cd-rw software?

Hello all,
About seven years ago, my dad had a Dell Dimension desktop that had a cd-rw drive and bundled software (made by Adaptec). We recently were digging through some archived CDs and stumbled upon some old cd-rw discs we used for data storage. Here is the problem: We cannot retreive the data from the cd-rws that we found because the computers we use now do not have the old bundled Adaptec software.

The old Dell desktop is no longer around and I am having a heck of a time trying to find some program (been searching for adaptec easy cd creator or alike) that will let me read the data off of the discs. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Re: cd-rw software?

I wouldnt have thought that the software would have anything to do with what is on the disc...

Re: cd-rw software?

Hello and thanks for the responses.

The cd-rws contained a variety of archieved stuff (mostly folders of images and textfiles and so and so). I remember back on the Dell (on windows 98), the way it worked was that the content of the disc was formatted in such a way that it required the software that wrote to the disc to read it. I don't know if that is the way cd-rws work now since windows takes care of writing to the disc, but currently the disc is "unreadable" under My Computer. We have three cd-rws that are unreadable under My Computer, so i'm certain that it is not the condition of the disc that is a problem.
